Denise Urban, L.P.C.

Denise has been working with the Hands On team for the past six years. She lives with her husband, two children and two Great Danes. She enjoys hiking, reading, exploring nature and spending time with her friends and family. Denise’s therapeutic work fully embodies the spirit of client-therapist collaboration, drawing on client strenghts within and atmosphere of emotional safety, respect, encouragement and compassion.

Denise actively assists clients in their realization of personal goals and aspirations for themselves through the counseling partnership. Her approach relies on drawing out personal strengths, keeping a focus on life values, meaning and purpose, while guiding toward healthier ways of thinking and relating to others. Some of the goals that she helps her clients work toward include: developing and maintaining healthy relationships, improving communication skills, management of anxiety and depression, recovery from loss and emotionally painful experiences, changing destructive behavior, and experiencing a sense of “waking up” to life.

Denise Urban is a Licensed Professional Counselor with degrees in Psychology, Women’s Studies and Counseling. She has received specialized training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Her counseling philosophy is informed by a blend of humanistic, strength-based and existential schools of practice. Her work with clients is collaborative with the spirit of acceptance, warmth and encouragement that remains sensitive to individual differences. Denise welcomes any inquiries about her practice!
